I absolutely loved the first wolverine movie and was actually apprehensive about this film. While I had faith that Hugh Jackman would do well in this role... I've never thought a sequel could compare to the original. In this case I have to say that I was right on a few different levels.
Why 5/10? (Non essential spoilers)
This film is the total cliche of merely wanting action from a favorite character. While the story was a typical comic book story that I do enjoy, the story telling was done poorly in my mind. Even having a fairly good understanding of marvel and the "world" that it entails, certain parts of this film did not make sense. They left the audience to fill in the gaps with their imagination. The acting and cinematography was great, but there were a few more shots of Jean Grey's cleavage than I thought necessary. I do have to say that there are some good fight scenes and awesome shots of wolverine particularly the one with the arrows and rope. Picture perfect. However, for me too much of the story was untold and I fear it wouldn't make much sense to those who don't understand marvel as well. Possibly even the ones who do understand it might come away a bit confused.
Should I Watch It?
Unfortunately, this film was not as awesome as I had hoped. I love wolverine and his character but I just could not get into this film. The stunning visuals and great CG make it an experience but, it is an experience I don't think you need to see. If you are a fan of marvel films don't let this review tarnish your hopes of this film. It has plenty in it that you could find intriguing and great. However, to the average film goer I can say there is no need to watch this.

If you like horror, yes.
If you don't, no.
To be honest though I don't believe it will scar you for life. Well, at least not like The Exorcism of Emily Rose did to some I know.
My first horror movie review. I'm excited to write this! Almost as excited as I was to see it. The trailers did a very good job capturing some of the horror without putting too much plot in the trailer. I'll admit though... the trailer seemed a little ridiculous with the clapping, but it turned out alright and I wasn't forced to laugh like I did in the trailer while watching the movie.
Why 7/10? (Non essential Spoilers)
My first gripe with this movies is that fact that it is rated "R." First off I have seen much worse in a PG-13 movie, (Exorcism of Emily Rose) There is no reason whatsoever that this movie should be rated "R." If you are looking for a clean "R" rated horror movie this is it for you. There is no nudity, no profanity if I remember correctly only one gross scene that involves throwing up, but I'm strong stomached so it didn't bother me. Off of the rating topic and on to the story. Great story that was actually based on true events. Now don't get me wrong I'm sure they embellished a little bit but the story was done well. Like any horror movie it takes a bit to build into the atmosphere of horror, but I think that is how horror is successful. I don't give it a higher rating because of the following reasons. The cinematography is great for the most part, but some of the scenes that are supposed to terrify you don't. Partially because they were just done wrong. The movement of the camera, the placement a couple of things don't work. However, I have to fight back saying that this film also has some great shots. There are in fact some very terrifying moments portrayed on the screen that I thoroughly enjoyed so I can't say it was all bad.
My only other grip that is outstanding in my mind is the cosmetics. They had a great cosmetic artist for the mother, however, the "witch" looks completely and utterly plastic. It seems less scary because of the poor quality that it was given. You can cosmetically see that the "witch" is not real and therefore I have no fear of it. However, that being said I would not like to be stuck in a room with the mask they used.... as it is just plain scary. Unfortunately the scary of the mask doesn't match up with reality in my mind and I walked away not completely petrified by the antagonist.
Should you see it?:
Well first off if you don't like horror, than obviously this doesn't apply to you. For everyone else it is fantastic. Its a great horror movie that gives you an experience. Many people are touchy on the religious aspect and that's understandable. However, it is a movie about demonic possession so you can't in reality not expect religion to enter into the picture. Anyways, the movie was great, and deserves attention from horror film addicts. Not necessarily as anything ground breaking, but if you're anything like me than you watch horror for the same exhilaration that many people go on roller coasters to experience. In light of that it will scare you, but not into next week.

I'll be honest, I waited for a long time to see this movie. I absolutely loved the first movie, and love the idea of a "prequel" if you will. I actually have to agree with rotten tomatoes on this one. Rotten tomatoes gave it a 78% and 87%, critic, and audience scores in that order. Even with my childish love of the film I was not disappointed by its sequel.
Why 8/10? (Spoilers, but I'll try to keep them simple.)
This film started out great with a tiny version of Mike, and put you through his childhood experiences. This instantly made me like his character even more, and made me want what he wanted. The plot twists in this film were done pretty well as I did not see the majority of the friendships and rooming assignments and they came as a surprise. The humor was up to par, and it did in fact take its time to develop into a story and not just a barrage of comedy. The reason why it didn't score higher on my list was that despite the humor and love able characters no film can live up to the original. The characters aren't new, and since you already know a part of the story there can't be as many surprises or variations in the story. As much as I do like the characters and the story, the magic of the first film cannot be overshadowed by a second film. Never the less it is a valiant attempt to keep that same spirit alive, even if it was in the year of sequels it deserves some respect as it stays true to the Monster Universe.
Should you see it?:
Of course. Its a great film despite what I said in the previous paragraph. The humor is well thought out and if your date also loved the original it can be an experience for both of you. Not to forget the family, they will love it, as they will easily associate with the characters and enjoy the entire experience.

I hate to start this off going against the grain and fighting such a widely loved film. I was surprised to see the reviews on rotten tomatoes were as high as they were. The both came in around 70% for each. So because of this I was happy to go see this film. Well until I got inside and started watching the film.
Why 6/10? (No Spoilers):
Well to say the least the movie is very funny and I could not help but laugh fairly often in this movie. However, this movie would not stop for anything. There was hardly any room for story development or a plot to fully form. I didn't care what Gru wanted, I didn't care what the AVL (Anti-Villain League) wanted. It gave me no time to even grasp what their goals were really. The onslaught of slapstick humor, and fart jokes drove the film. This silly little humor is great for children and there were even jokes for adults. However I can't give this movie any higher than a 6 because the story just didn't pull together. Yes, it makes sense, you can connect all the dots, but there is no intellectual involvement you don't have to think. I really mean that. Everything just looks silly or is designed to be silly and sometimes you have to laugh, but the film doesn't make you think, it doesn't leave a warm fuzzy feeling like I got from the first film.
Should you see it?:
Yes! Especially if you liked the first film. Hands down, there is just to much silly in the film to not enjoy it. Even if I felt zombie-ish watching it, its still funny. The family will definitely love this movie especially the kids. However, I would not suggest it as a date night film. There just isn't an experience I think that you or your date would really take away from it. If you try to whisper something to each other or make it more personal you will inevitably miss half a joke in the onslaught of silly.

The Reviews Are Coming
Hey All,
Just thought I'd give you a bit of background into my life and what types of movies I enjoy!
To start off I enjoy every type of film. I love horror, comedy, action, drama, etc... The list could go on forever so I really have no biased opinion when it comes to reviewing films. It actually increases my love for film because I have no single direction that I feel movies should go in.
About me!
I am a Digital Media student currently in pursuit of my bachelors degree in animation. My aim is to eventually make films like or akin to the very films I will be reviewing for you guys! I've been through my film classes and I understand the majority of technical aspects, but I am not afraid to brush them off as needed to give a review that I feel comfortable with. Ha ha.
How I will be rating films!
I will be reviewing films based on the experience as a whole with a 1 through 10 thumbs up system. I feel this is much more fair to the viewer because lets be honest there are plenty of movies at there that are just terrible in certain aspect and yet, they can be some of the most memorable films. I will try to stay out of the decimals but one or two may occasionally pop up for my indecisive brain to feel secure.
Send me videos you wish for me to review! I will review them for you ASAP. I wish to be mysterious film guru that you can trust when it comes to relying on my opinion for a good film.
Also feel free to disagree with my reviews if you strongly disagree I might not be the best critique for you, and that's okay no harm no foul.
Tchau.
